Ghulam Nabi Azad has written a letter to PM Modi, and has expressed his “profound concern and anxiety” “over the ongoing unrest” in Kashmir, sources said on saturday.
Terming the present situation in Kashmir as “a law and order problem” Congress leader and leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha has highlighted the plight of the people of Kashmir in his letter.
Azad in his letter has said that 55 persons have lost their lives, 7000 persons have sustained injuries and 100 persons have lost their eyesight in Kashmir during last 29 days.
Criticising the government for failing to deal with the situation, Azad has said that government was showing no urgency in dealing with the prevailing situation.
Azad has said that “silence” of the central government has aggravated the matter.
Azad has sought indulgence of PM Modi to win the hearts of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and ensure that the “law and order situation” is restored at the earliest.
