Police bars shopkeepers from opening shops in Bijbehara after 6 pm

On Sunday evening when shopkeepers in Bijbehara market tried to open their shops in the area after 6 pm, a contingent of Police lobbed tear smoke shell in the main market Bijbehara forcing the market to close down.

Youth soon took to streets and pelted stones on the armed forces. One Police vehicle also collided with a CRPF armored vehicle in which one policeman was injured.

Following the intense clashes between youth and government forces, two youth from the area were also arrested.

It is pertinent to mention that the United Hurriyat leadership has called for opening of the markets after 6 pm.

Clashes were going on till the report was submitted.
