An Army soldier was killed in an encounter in north Kashmir’s Kupwara sector, reports said on Saturday.
Defence sources said that militants attempted to infiltrate in Kupwara sector and they were intercepted by troops.
“The militants fired which led to an encounter however the infiltrators succeeded to flee,” they said adding, “one army soldier sustained a gunshot wound to which he unfortunately succumbed later,” they said.
The sources said that search operation continued in the area.
