Amid protests, complete shutdown was observed here in North Kashmir Bandipora district on Thursday while schools were closed besides government announcement of their resumption.

There was a curfew like situation in almost all the townships of the district including Hajin, Ajas, Sumbla,Niadkhi,Aloosa,Kaloosa and Arin while  the residents mostly women and children staged protests demanding release of detained youth.

Women marched form Main Bandipora Chowk to Deputy Commissioner’s office where they appealed for the release of detained youth.

They said police have mostly detained innocent youth blaming them for stone pelting.

“My son is innocent, he was picked by police form home, he has never been involved in the stone pelting” Said Zahida Farooq.

Locals in Bandipora town accused Jammu and Kashmir police and army officers of un-necessary harassment. Both the officers are hurling choicest abuses to residents especially women even they are barging into the houses damaging windowpanes and doors.

“Police and army men headed by their respective officers have unleashed terror in the area, they are un-necessarily harassing the people” residents in Nowpora told.

Both the private and Government schools in the district remained closed even government had announced their resumption.
