The union Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu last night rang up JK Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti regarding the media gag and was reportedly told that ‘all is well’ with Kashmir media.
As per reports, Mehbooba informed Naidu that there was no such ban on newspaper publications despite police on Friday raiding newspaper offices to detain staff and seizing the print orders.
Last evening, the government termed the ban “miscommunication” and told the editors to resume printing. But the editors have refused to take orders and have called an important meeting today to discuss the media gag.
Earlier, the newspaper owners along with their entire staff lodged a strong protest against the gag imposed by Mehbooba government on media.
