RDA SMHS and associated hospitals has expressed serious concern and has lodged a strong protest against harassment of hospital staff yesterday evening , tear gas shelling in SMHS hospital emergency.

Four COPD(lung disease) patients were being managed in emergency room when tear gas shelling was done in side the emergency which caused severe suffocation of those poor patients.

This is in gross violation of international laws.

The hospitals especially SMHS and Bone and Joint hospital is witnessing an unprecedented rush of injuries and emergency operation theatre, ophthalmology theatre, ENT theatre are working continuously since yesterday morning to their full capacity.

The resident staff has been working tirelessly without any break in the emergency section but still we are having shortage of staff. We received calls from many doctors that the even ambulances were not allowed by security forces at certain places which has added to the shortage of doctors.

We are highly thankful to local NGOS and local people around SMHS hospital who arranged food and other essential stuff for hospital staff and attendants and we request them to continue same as many injured are without family members and some don’t have money with them.
