Thousands of people from different parts have gathered in Tral town in South Kashmir to participate in the funeral procession of Burhan Wani, the Hizbul Mujahideen commander killed in a gun fight on Friday.
Since morning when Burhan’s body was handed over to his family, thousands of people from different parts of South Kashmir started reaching the town. They have been raising pro Azadi, pro Burhan and anti India slogans and women are joining the traditional songs eulogising Burhan. His Nimaz-e-Jinaza was scheduled at 11.30 AM but the situation has been out of control and many Jinazas were offered since people have been still pouring in. People are trying to have his last glipmse.
His burial may take time as people are still coming and insisting on having his body’s glimpse, reports the Rising Kashmir correspondent. Though restrictions have been in place since morning, people have defied them and there are reports of clashes with place in many parts of South Kashmir. In Qaimoh one civilian is reported to have been injured with a bullet in his hip. But it was not confirmed immediately. Three more people have been reported injured from other areas. Protests are underway in Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipore, Pampore and other parts. At many places people offered Nimaz-e-Jinaza in absence.
