In the wake of growing number of cases related to women in Kashmir, the State Commission for Women (SCW) has appealed all media houses, religious bodies and officials to desist from the practice of naming the victim.
Chairperson of the Commission, Nayeema Mehjoor has said that those involved in maligning any women by identifying her name without her consent will be prosecuted under court of law.
She has appealed all officials, media houses and religious bodies to respect the dignity of women and not disclose the identity of female victims adding that society can only achieve its full potential when all members of that society have equality of opportunity. When all its people, men or women, are looked upon and treated equally, she added.
