Former Chief Minister and National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday slammed CM Mehbooba Mufti over her silence on security situation in the state.

Earlier, Opposition parties cornered the government over the security situation in the state post Pampore attack that left eight CRPF men and over 20 others wounded.

They alleged that the government was silent over the issue when reports were appearing in media that New Delhi was mulling different strategies following the Pampore attack.

Omar, who is also Leader of Opposition, said that they were elected representatives and that the government needed to take them into confidence over the security situation in the state.

He said that reports were suggesting that Road Opening Party (ROP) duties were being transferred back to the army.

“Newspapers in Delhi are reporting that BSF is replacing CRPF. We don’t whether this true. We want to hear from you (Mehbooba Mufti). We request the Chief Minister to kindly visit the house and make an overall statement on security situation,” demanded Omar.

After Omar slammed Mehbooba, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh said that the government would come up with a statement on the issue tomorrow.
