He said the scheme has been physically completed as on date with a project length of 7.75 kms.

Replying to a calling attention notice by Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar regarding the delay in executing the construction work of Alastang S.E canal road, the Minister said that in addition to above, improvement /upgradation of Shuhama Khimber road including allied links alongside S.E Canal road has also been taken up under NABARD RDIF-XVI at an estimated cost of Rs. 613.87 lakhs, against which an expenditure of Rs. 552.48 lakh has been incurred upto enduing March 2016.

He said that out of total target length of 8.40 km, macadamization of 6.00 kms has been completed. He said the balance length of 2.40 kms has been raised upto Water Bound Macadam (WBM) Grade-II and Grade-III level.

The Minister said the Alastang S.E Canal road via Khimber Saidpora runs along the SE canal, so the irrigation & Flood Control Department would frequently stop the work on apprehensions that the canal could get damaged and this caused some delays. He said, moreover, an additional amount of Rs. 61.39 lakhs by way of State share is also required for early completion of the road.
