‘People know militants are heroes, who sacrifice their future for our freedom’
Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani today condemned the use of excessive force by Indian army and police against the people in Kupwara.
In a statement here, Geelani said the vandalizing of houses, breaking of window panes, ruthless beating of people, arrest of youths and mortar shelling on the houses and the courtyard of Masjid, is aworst kind of state terrorism.
He said that the people of the area were peacefully protesting the killing of militants but the police and the CRPF in frustration used brutal force against the people and injured many of them.
While expressing his dismay over fresh arrest spree in Sopore, Islamabad and other parts of Valley by the police, Geelani said that it is the extreme of lawlessness and it should stop forthwith.
He said that the Kashmiri people have very deep attachments with the Mujahideens (armed freedom fighters) and they know that these bravehearts are sacrificing their present for the future of their nation and that is way when any militant is killed, these people come out on roads to protest but the police and army feel scared by this resolve of the people and in frustration they lose their senses and use excessive and brutal force against the unarmed people.
He said that India and its armed forces should remember that Kashmiris will never surrender before the military might of India and they will continue their struggle till they achieve their freedom.
