Gun shots heard in Sopore amid violent clashes

Few gunshots were heard in Sopore amid violent clashes between protesters and the government forces following the Friday prayers.

The protesters mainly youth who had gathered near main chowk Sopore started raising anti-India slogans and pelted stones at the police and paramilitary personnel.

However, police and forces swung into action and fired tear gas shells to disperse the protestors.

Reports said as police were busy dispersing the protesters at Sopore Chowk, few gunshots were heard near Batepora area.

Local sources said that gunshots added to the panic and everybody ran for lives.

They said that no one was injured due to gunshots.

It was immediately not known who fired the gunshots.
