A gunfight started between militants and government forces at Lolab forests of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday.
A police officer told that acting on a tip off about the presence of some militants, the army’s 18 RR and SOG cordoned off Dobwan forest area in Khurhama today morning.
Soon after, the joint team of forces intensified the cordon-and-search operation; the militants hiding inside the woods opened fire and tried to break the forces cordon. However, the forces engage them in a gunfight, he said.
When reports last came in, the operation was going on in the area.
Pertinently, On Monday evening, militants managed to escape before injuring a soldier in Sogam forests. The encounter had raged hours after the arrest of LeT militant Abu Ukasah alias Hanzullah by police at Sogam market while he was making purchasing.
