Against the denial of flood relief by government, hundreds of flood affected victims from different parts of Pulwama district Monday held a silent protest in Srinagar’s press colony.

The victims had earliert today attempted to meet Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti at her residence to seek reddressal of their grievances. But the security didn’t let them meet the CM. “We arrived at her residence at 7:30 AM in the morning, however, after waiting for one hour, a group of cops arrived on the scene and smacked us out of the premises.” said one of the flood victims.

The victims had arrived from Kakpora, Awantipora, Pampore, Dogripora areas of district Pulwama with banners and assembled in press colony at 10:30 AM.

The victims said that even after two years of flood, they have not received a single penny of flood relief.

“We have lost our property but we have not received anything,” Tariq Ahmad a victim said.

The victims said that from time to time government sent its teams to carry out survey but they have not seen results of the “efforts” yet.

The victims said that in these two years, from Divisional Commissioners office to Tehsil office, they moved from pillar to post to get relief.  Now they are tired of putting in more efforts and said that they are praying to Allah in to save them from the tyranny of the government in place.
