Industrial units to get uninterrupted power supply: Chander Parkash

Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today informed that the Government will provide independent receiving stations to industrial units to ensure uninterrupted power supply to them.

Replying to a question of Zafar Iqbal Manhas, Chander Parkash informed that the Government has stopped power connections to industrial units engaged in manufacturing of steel by using electric induction or arc furnace.

The Minister informed that the government has been discouraging establishment of Iron and Steel manufacturing units using electric induction, arc furnace as power is being used as raw material in such units. He said that 14 units have been granted power connections prior to imposition of ban.

 The Minister informed that eight units have been registered for the manufacturing of MS Iron Ingots using electric induction and arc furnace in Jammu division involved in manufacturing of steel. He said, besides, five units have been registered in Jammu division for using electric induction and arc furnace but their line of activity is not linked with MS Steel Ingots, while one such unit was granted permission for manufacturing MS Iron ingots using electric induction and arc furnace in Kashmir division, adding that the unit holder has not availed the said sanction issued by PDD.

The Minister further informed that the Government has allotted 63 plots to industrial units in Kulgam and Shopian districts, while 19 industrial units have been established in these districts.
