Directorate of Tourism Kashmir organized one day Water Sports Festival at Nigeen Water Sports Club today.
In the festival, shikara race was organized on Nigeen waters besides swimming teaching camp was organized for children at the newly developed swimming pool at the Club. Water skating, water surfing, water canoe polo was also organized.
Director Tourism Kashmir Mr Mahmood A. Shah inaugurated the festival which saw participation of large number of children. He said the festival was aimed to promote water based sports activities.
Shah said Kashmir has many water bodies where water sports activities can be organized. He said tourists can also enjoy water sports activities in Valley especially in Dal, Nigeen and Manasbal Lakes.
The Tourism Department also threw open artificial swimming pool for children at the club. The swimming experts provided basic skills in swimming to children. All swimming equipments were provided to children so they can learn the swimming quickly.
Deputy Director Tourism Kashmir Peerzada Zahoor was also present on the occasion.
