3 BSF men killed, 5 injured in Bijbehara attack; Hizb claims responsibility

Srinagar:  Militants on Friday attacked an army convey in Gooriwan area in south Kashmir’s Bijbehara in which three BSF personnel were killed, while five others were injured.

Police sources said that a BSF convey from Jammu to Srinagar was attacked near Gooriwan at JK Bank in Bijbehara market at 4.20 afternoon.

“The convoy was attacked by militants from both sides of the road in which three BSF men were killed,” a police official said.

He said the injured have been rushed to 92 Army hospital in BB Cant Srinagar.

He said the BSF men retailed the fire, but the militants fled from the spot. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched searches.

Meanwhile, Hizbul Mujahideen has claimed responsibility of the attack. HM spokesman Burhanudin in a tele-statement  said that its “filed operational commanders carried out the attack”.
