Srinagar: Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports, Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari, replying to a question of Vikramaditya Singh, informed the House that the government appoints outstanding sportspersons against direct recruitment quota in all services of the state with an aim to recognize and encourage sportspersons of the state.
The Minister informed that ‘J&K appointment of Outstanding Sportspersons Rules’ provides for appointment of sportspersons in various government departments. He informed that already in-service sportspersons are entitled to get two advance increments and in addition to this, the medalists are being given weight age as per Government order No 808-GAD of 2008 dated 17-06-2008 for admission in professional colleges.
Responding to supplementary, Mr. Ansari said that under present rules only such a candidate is being considered for appointment who participates in an event recognized under these rules and secures a position as would qualify him to be defined as an outstanding sportspersons during the period not exceeding 5 years prior to the date of issue of advertisement notice by the Secretary, JK State Sports Council for filling up the posts under these rules.
