A gunfight broke out between government forces and a group of militants at Drugmulla area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday.
A senior police officer told that SOG, army’s 47 RR and CRPF cordoned off the Check Drugmulla area following specific information about the presence of some militants.
The forces, as such, intensified the cordon-and-search operation and fired several motor shells towards the suspected spot, the officer said, adding that the militants hiding inside the house opened fire, triggering off an encounter.
When reports last came in, the gunfight was going on in the area.
