J&K High Court suspends work, lawyers seek security

JAMMU: The J and K High Court, Jammu Wing as well as District Court Complex Janipur on Monday suspended work against the attempt made to kidnap a woman Advocate.

Led by Advocate Umesh Sharma, the lawyers under the banner of J and K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, staged a protest seeking security for lawyers’ fraternity.
Pertinent to mention here that two Srinagar based youth including a government teacher on Saturday afternoon attempted to kidnap a woman advocate which was however foiled by the police in Indira Chowk area of Jammu City.

Sharma condemned such types of incidents and asked State government to provide security to the lawyers. He said such types of incidents are seen in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh States and now the same have started in Jammu also. He appealed to the government to learn a lesson from this incident and provide appropriate security to the lawyers so that such type of incidents will not occur again.

Among those who joined the protest include Daljeet Singh Manhas, President Young Lawyers Association, Rahgubir Singh, Ronik Sharma, Gurdev Thakur, Sourav Beotra, Kamal Kishore, Ravinder Kumar, Rahul Sharma, Daljit Singh Manhas and Ranjeep Kumar.
