Srinagar: On the 26th martyrdom anniversary of the prominent religious and political personality of Kashmir, Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq and Hawal martyrs and 14th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed-e-Hurriyat Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone, the Hafta-e-Shahadat programme was formally inaugurated at Jammu Kashmir Awami Majls-e-Amal and Hurriyat Conference (M) headquarters besides at various districts and tehsil offices of the amalgam.
In the Jamia Masjid Srinagar, the Quran Khawani Majlis besides the organisation’s office bearers and workers was attended Moulana Ahmad Syed Naqshbandi, Moulana G N Suharwardhy, Moulana Muhammad Ali Akbar, Mufti Mumtaz-ul-Haq, Prof. Habibullah Jeelani, Mufti Ghulam Rasool Samoon, Moulvi Muhammad Yaseen Shah and others.
Soon after the Quran Khawani Majlis, a state-wide Qirat competition organised by Anjuman-e-Awqaf Jamia Masjid and presided over by the Anjuman-e-Awqaf Jamia Masjid President, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was held in which Qaris from dozens of schools and Dar-ul-Ulooms participated.
Qari, Mushtaq Ahmad of the Madrasa Ahaul Aloom, Mujkote Rajouri secured the first position while Muhammad Idris of Dar-ul-Aloom Sidiqui Ganderbal bagged the second, Muhammad Manzoor of Dar-ul-Aloom Dawoodi third and Sajad Ahmad of Madrasa Qasim-ul-Aloom Batakote fourth position in the Qirat competition.
On the occasion, the Mirwaiz presented to the winners with Kashmiri translation and summary of the holy Quran, cash prizes and mementoes in the form of trophies.
The winners were adjudged by Qari Riyaz-ul-Haq al Qasimi, Qari Aijaz Ahmad and Qari Ishtiyaq Ahmad while Moulana M S Rehman Shams conducted the proceedings of the programme.
Delivering an address on the occasion, Jamia Masjid Srinagar Khateeb and Imam, Moulana Ahmad Syed Naqshbandi paid glowing tributes to Shaheed-e-Millat, Martyrs of Hawal, Shaheed-e-Hurriyat and all the martyrs of Kashmir and offered Fateh Khawani and prayers for them.
