Jammu: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today asked coalition Govt to be accessible to people and address their grievances.’ The Government should take concerted steps to provide hassle-free service to the people and cut delays in the delivery system’’, Bhalla said while addressing party workers at Dilli village in Gandhi Nagar constituency. Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that Congress will fight the upcoming urban local body polls for a decisive mandate in its favour, in order to bring a considerable change on governance and development front. He underlined that present regime has utterly failed to connect itself with the common masses and gap between people and ruling party leaders has been widening.
He said that rural areas were the worst victim of the wrong policies of present regime and called upon party workers to educate the masses about the revolutionary steps which taken by Congress during its tenure in State. Highlighting developments arising due to the misrule and wrong policies of the State Government, Bhalla expressed concern over the callous attitude of the government towards the basic issues concerning people in all the three regions. Tall claims by coalition Govt with regard to resolution of the people’s problems have fallen flat, he said.
Bhalla accused the PDP BJP Coalition Government for failing to address the issues confronting people in State, he blamed both PDP and BJP for exploiting people by playing with their emotions on good governance drama being staged by them, but the fact remains, both the parties have lost the ground miserably, he said. Bhalla maintained that Congress Party has remained dedicated to the cause of strengthening and serving people and has never changed colours for anything. He said Congress Party stands guarantee to the equitable development of all the three regions and the people, it will continue to serve the people to the best of it’s ability.
He said disenchantment among the people has reached an unprecedented level. “The sense of anti-incumbency against this present government within the very first year is much greater than the engineered, fake perception of anti-incumbency against the previous Congress-NC government at the culmination of entire six-year tenure,” Bhalla said. He said regional polarization and efforts to divide the people on the basis of their religions could have short-term political advantages for the ruling parties, Jammu and Kashmir will always stick to its legacy of inclusiveness, secularism and tolerance. He said that those giving sermons on secularism should learn its basics from the glorious, selfless history of Congress. “We have rendered unparalleled sacrifices for the cause of secularism and inclusiveness,” he said.
The former minister said that development has been pushed to back burner while public grievances were mounting unheard with each passing day. He said Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD) outlets lacked sufficient supplies and utility services were craving for maintenance. “The promise of 24×7 power supply has turned out to be a counter nightmare with unprecedented and unscheduled power cuts haunting the people of the state at the very onset of the winter season,” he said. He urged the heads of the departments to hold regular meetings with the public and address their grievances on priority,” he said and added that people shouldn’t feel dejected and whatever genuine demands come from them should be addressed by the officials immediately.
