Cloudburst hits Batote, three children killed

Three minor students were washed away in Batote area of Ramban district after a cloud burst triggered by heavy rains occurred on Thursday.

Official sources told Srinagar based news agency GNS three children washed away in Ladhwal nallah while they were returning from school. The children were identified as Rakesh Kumar,14, son of Satish Kumar, resident of Ladhwal, Shiwali Devi, 5, and Payal Devi,15, who also hail from Ladhwal.

Sources said body of one children namely Rakesh has been recovered so far and the searches for other two is underway. Sources said lot of water and rocks have accumulated in Kud Bazar due to heavy downpour and cloud burst.

“Police team along with civil authorities are on job to clear road. Damages to some shops and houses have been reported,” the sources added.
